PacMan3000

Hey guys--forgive me if I posted this in the wrong category--I'm new here.  Really am enjoying my time on the forum so far.

Anyway, I'd love some input from anyone here that cares to share.  I could use some guidance.

I'm looking to begin building my NFL helmet collection.  I want to buy them for the sole purpose of collecting and displaying them--I have no desire to get them signed.

I have zero painting skills, so the customization that I would personally do is relatively minimal.  For example, I recently bought a Cleveland Browns authentic VSR4 helmet brand new.  I then installed a new facemask onto it, bought a Sportstar chin strap and added an Oakley visor to it.

With that said, my only issue with continuing to go this route is that is can be somewhat limiting.  As far as I can tell, you can really only get your hands on brand new, fresh out of the box authentic helmets that are VSR4, Speed, or Speed Flex helmets.

And so, if I wanted a helmet that was an authentic replication of the helmet Troy Aikman wore, or Sean Taylor wore or LaDainaian Tomlinson wore (for instance), I'd be out of luck, because their helmets are more "customized" than the traditional helmet available to everyday customers to buy online.  They might be Schutt helmets or Bike helmets, for example, and many have high mount chin strap buckles etc.

Long story short, this has led me to an ebay seller named "in-the-game-sports2," who sells customized authentic helmets of famous NFL players from different eras.

To my eyes, the helmets he sells look quite good, but I really wanted to get some advice from you all, because they certainly aren't cheap.  And I was hoping if you all could offer up some thoughts as to whether, given the look of many of the helmets he has for sale, and given the real NFL player helmets that these auctions are looking to replicate, if you feel that these helmets that are available on his auctions are "worth it" or are potentially good buys?

Are the prices fair for what you're getting, or in your experience, would a customized helmet such as the ones he sells go for a lot less?  Or perhaps would/do they go for a lot more?  And do you feel the the helmets he sells are customized well and accurately, or do you see notable imperfections or omissions?  Would really appreciate your thoughts.

Lastly, I'm not sure if I can link to eBay auctions here, but if so, I'll link to a handful of his auctions below so you can get a feel for the kind of helmets and quality he's selling (and if I cannot add these links on here, please feel free to let me know and I'll remove them--I just figured it would be better than copying and pasting his auction photos to the forum without his permission):

I think you will always pay a little bit more for a custom made helmet I have a few myself,it just takes a little bit longer to make rarer helmets, correct colour facemask, etc it all adds up but if you have a favorite player it's worth it, but there is some classy collectors on here so this is the place to get everything you need
